Nobly Born By Stephen Dafoe

This item is available for purchase at MasonicShop.com The Poor Fellow Soldiers of Christ and the Templar of Solomon, popularly known as the Knights Templar, was the most famous and infamous of the crusading military orders. Created in the aftermath of the First Crusade,(1096-1099) the Templars were established to ensure the safety of the large numbers of European pilgrims, who flowed towards Jerusalem after its conquest. The Templars were an unusual Order in that they lived both an active and contemplative life making them effectively the first warrior-monks in the western world. As such the Templars quickly expanded beyond their role as protectors of pilgrims and played a vital role in many battles of the Crusades.Although they suffered more defeats than celebrated victories, the Templars are remembered as Christendoms most fearless military force.Through innovative financial techniques that could be considered the foundation of modern banking and the use of a well established network of land holdings, the Templars in many ways resembled todays multi-national corporations. The Orders highly organised infrastructure, coupled with influential patrons, allowed the Order to gain great wealth and power in a relatively brief period of time. This rise in power and prosperity continued until the Templars ran foul of King Philip IV of France, who arrested the Templars on October 13, 1307 on a variety of heretical charges. Philip had the Templars tortured in order to extract confessions of guilt and many of their number were ultimately burned at the stake. Under the influence of King Philip, Pope Clement V disbanded the Order on March 22, 1312. In Nobly Born: An Illustrated History of the Knights Templar, noted expert Stephen Dafoe explores the Order from its origins through to its dissolution, set against the complex political and sociological backdrop that was the middle ages a period of history where enemies couldbecome allies at the drop of a hat.Individual chapters examine: -The factors that led to the First Crusade as well as a detailed account of the capture of Jerusalem.-The origin of the Templars between the years of 1118 - 1120 AD.-The Orders rise to papal favour and power and their commercial activities.-The day to day life of the Templar in the convent.-The military structure and discipline of the Order in the field.-The major battles fought by the Templars during the Crusades.-The downfall of the Order following the loss of the Holy Land in 1291.-The legacy and mythos of the Templars that has developed since their demise.Alongside the authors well-researched and comprehensive text is a superb illustrative content, vividly portraying the life of the Templars during this remarkable period of history. 168 pages 8 1/4 X 10 1/4 published 7/26/07

Red Triangle The History Of The Persecution Of Freemasons By Robert Cooper

This item is available for purchase at MasonicShop.com For at least 200 years Freemasonry has been subjected to witch-hunts. Conspiracy theories abound in which Freemasons manipulate whole governments, incite revolution, control the world banking system, and will engage in any activity, even murder, to advance their aims. Even today, Freemasonry is still seen a legitimate group to attack on the grounds of politics, religion and conspiracy theories. The Red Triangle uncovers the reality of this persecution of Freemasons from its first manifestation soon after people became aware of their existence in the 17th century. Taking a historical approach the author examines why attacks on Freemasonry began to appear from many quarters, who were involved? Why? What effect did their attacks have on all concerned and how successful were the Freemasons in their attempts to defend themselves. Attacks and persecution took place in many countries as Freemasonry spread around the world AE there was even an anti-Masonic political party in 19th century America which stood against Masonic politicians. In complete contrast Freemasonry and the American civil war would provide a fascinating inside the ethos of the Freemasonry in extreme, life threatening, situations when Freemasons offered assistance to their fellow Freemasons on opposite sides during the war in the midst of battles. This century ended with the notorious Dreyfus Affair which dragged Freemasonry into the political arena and most importantly linked Freemasonry with the Jews as world conspirators. The common fear of a New World Order by a Judeo/Masonic conspiracy was to reach a horrific culmination in Nazi Germany, in which Freemasons were actively persecuted, many dying in the Holocaust. Even after the war, Freemasons were seen by many as legitimate targets for persecution or abuse and today Freemasonry is still fighting a battle to present itself positively to the general public. 325 pages 6 1/4 X 9 1/4 published 4/18/11

Canonbury Papers Vol 5 Knowledge Of Heart By Unknown

This item is available for purchase at MasonicShop.com This fifth volume of The Canonbury Papers contains the twelve papers delivered at the Eighth International Conference, held at the Canonbury Academy in November 2006, on Gnosticism and related movements Gnosticism, in its essence, is a heterodox form of Christianity that developed in the Second Century out of dualist schools of thought within the Church. These schools drew upon older and parallel religions of their day, and relied on revealed knowledge (gnosis) rather than on grace as the means of salvation. Although they did not survive the collapse of the Roman Empire, the Gnostics and their teaching became an integral part of the Western Hermetic Tradition. The Gnostic tradition has thus provided a continuing philosophical and religious influence on later spiritual and esoteric movements, including Freemasonry, and most notably during the last two centuries. In recognition of this influence the conference sought to bring together such distinguished speakers as Professor James Robinson - the worlds foremost authority on Gnosticism, Colin Wilson and Tobias Churton, together with prominent scholars from a variety of disciplines, creating a forum for new insights into the meaning and value of Gnosticism in both its classical and modern forms. 146 pages 6 5/16 X 9 7/16 published 7/26/07

Invisibles The True History Of The Rosicrucians By Tobias Churton

This item is available for purchase at MasonicShop.com It has been said that Rosicrucians possess the secrets of Man, God, and Nature, that they can turn lead into gold, that they govern Europe in secret, that they enjoy the elixir of life, that theirs is the true philosophy of Freemasonry, and that they can save or destroy the world. Most amazing of all perhaps is the Rosicrucian vision of an invisible, inviolable, and utterly secret body, the Hidden Guardians of the planet. Only they, it is alleged, possess the true key to understanding the spiritual and material essence of all religion. The story of how a young German nobleman, Christian Rosycross, escaped his boring cloister and sped to the east in search of wisdom about a century before Columbus sailed west, has been told many times since it first appeared in a booklet in 1614. The Fama Fraternitatis, the document in which the story first appeared, has been taken for historical fact. Never was there a story more controversial or more mysterious to tell. 443 pages 6 1/4 X 9 1/2 published 3/19/11
